Who are we?
Sunstone and Steel:
The Stewards of the Court
The Borderlands Renaissance Faire is brought to life by two lifelong students of history, steel, and the wild. With decades of combined experience in historical recreation and a deep-seated love for the immersive magic of the Renaissance circuit, Zach and Elisabeth founded this event to bring a darker, more ethereal flavor of folklore to the El Paso borderlands.
Zach Chenoweth
A scholar of the blade and a veteran of the lists, Zach brings the discipline of the "Mortal Outpost" to the Faire. As a fencing coach with a background in HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), he ensures that the spirit of historical combat is woven into the fabric of the event. To Zach, a Renaissance Faire is more than an event, it is a living gallery of martial tradition and craftsmanship.
Elisabeth Gaytan
Representing the raw, untamed spirit of the "Shadow Court," Elisabeth is a grappler and a devoted practitioner of the primal movement. An avid lover of the wilderness, she finds her inspiration in the rugged landscapes and the ancient, unspoken rules of the natural world. Her passion for the outdoors and the visceral side of history ensures that our Unseelie theme remains grounded in the beautiful, sometimes dangerous, reality of the wild.
Our Vision
Together, we aim to create a space where the veil between history and fantasy is at its thinnest. We aren’t just hosting a festival; we are building realms. Whether you are here for the ring of steel on the stage or the quiet mystery of the fae-lit woods, we welcome you to the Court.
